APS Rehabilitation Psychology Interest Group Conference Prize

Administration

1. The Rehabilitation Psychology Interest Group is responsible for administering the Award and for funding of the Award.
2. The National Committee for the Rehabilitation Psychology Interest Group will appoint a selection committee of at least three (3) members of the Interest Group, to be responsible for selecting an appropriate prize winner.
3. The Award will be presented following the Society’s Annual Conference, once the recommended candidate has been approved by the Board of Directors.

Eligibility

Nominees must be members of the Rehabilitation Psychology Interest Group presenting an item at the annual conference of the Society.

Nomination process

There will be no call for nominations. All papers and posters being presented at the Society’s annual conference will be considered for eligibility for the Award.

Selection criteria

In judging the nominations for the Rehabilitation Psychology Interest Group Conference Prize, the selection committee will:

1. determine that the item to be presented at the annual conference concerns an aspect of rehabilitation psychology as defined in the terms of reference of the Interest Group;
2. assess what level of relevance of the item to be presented has to psychologists working in the field of rehabilitation psychology; and
3. assess the quality of the presentation of the item.

A member of the selection committee will attend the presentation of each item at the annual conference that is eligible for the prize and rank each item on a scale of 0 (criteria not met)  to 10 (criteria met exceptionally well)  against the three categories set out above.

The highest scoring item must have achieved an average score of 7 across the three criteria in order for any Award to be made. In the event that no item reaches an average score of at least 7, no prize will be awarded in that year.

In the event of a tied score, the National Convener will determine the winner.

Value of the award

Successful candidates for the Rehabilitation Psychology Interest Group Conference Prize will receive an award of $500 and a certificate.

Closing date

The award will next be administered at the 48th APS Annual Conference to be held in Cairns from 8-12 October 2013.
