Homelessness Roundtable – Monday 20 July 2009

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) will host a Homelessness Roundtable next Monday 20 July to address one of the major social issues in Australia.

Psychologists and other key stakeholders in the homelessness field, including international experts, will come together to share perspectives across their disciplines and enhance the community's capacity to respond to the issue.

‘Invited presenters from the United States and New Zealand will provide international perspectives on homelessness and valued insight into strategies used in other nations to support and house homeless people,' says Professor Bob Montgomery, President of the APS.

Professor MaryBeth Shinn from the Department of Human and Organizational Development at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, USA, and Associate Professor Darrin Hodgetts from the Department of Psychology at the University of Waikato, Aotearoa, NZ, will present their research findings and lead discussions around homelessness prevention and service provision to the homeless.
